Program
Day 1.- Reception and Tour of the city of Cusco
On the day of your arrival at Cusco airport, we will be waiting for you with a sign bearing your name. We will then transfer you to your selected hotel, where you can rest for an hour and have a coca tea. In the afternoon, we will pick you up starting at 1:00 PM to begin the tour of Cusco and its surroundings. We will visit the center of the ancient city of Cusco, the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, the Monastery of Santo Domingo, the Koricancha Temple, and the nearby ruins of Kenko, Puka Pukara, Tambomachay, and the Sacsayhuaman fortress, built with enormous rocks whose movement and use remain an enigma, as there are no stone quarries in the area.
Day 2 – Sacred Valley of the Incas Tour
Today we will tour the Sacred Valley of the Incas, starting at 8:00 AM with a pick-up from your hotel. We will then head to Pisac, a typical market town with picturesque terraced fields carved into the mountainside. We will visit the Pisac archaeological site, also famous for its markets where you can buy beautiful handicrafts. Afterward, we will travel to Urubamba, where a buffet lunch is included. Next, we will visit the Ollantaytambo Fortress, where descendants of the Incas live in the Inca houses. Finally, we will go to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the train departing at 4:36 PM for Aguas Calientes, arriving around 6:09 PM. Overnight at your selected hotel in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu). (Photo: Sacred Valley of the Incas).
Day 3 – Machu Picchu Day Tour
After waking up very early and having breakfast, we will ascend to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu and witness the spectacular sunrise over this wonder. Following this, we will embark on a two-hour guided tour of the citadel, visiting the most important sites, including the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, and the cemeteries. After the tour of Machu Picchu, you have the option to trek to the summit of Huayna Picchu or the Mountain sector. This trek will take a few hours, during which you can enjoy the scenery and take in some breathtaking views (this hike is unguided). Afterward, we will descend by bus to Aguas Calientes, and in the afternoon, we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our staff will be waiting to transfer you by bus to Cusco and take you to your hotel. Day 4 – Tour to Maras and Moray
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we will pick you up from your hotel around 8:00 AM in our vehicle to head to the town of Maras. We will embark on a colorful tour, passing through typical villages and beautiful landscapes along the way. First, we will visit the town of Maras, from where you can appreciate the Vilcanota mountain range and snow-capped peaks such as El Chicón and La Verónica. This picturesque town preserves attractions from the pre-Hispanic, colonial, and republican periods. Next, we will visit the Moray Archaeological Complex, located 7 km southwest of Maras. It consists of a series of enormous terraces that overlap concentrically in a gigantic depression. These beautiful terraces served as an agricultural laboratory, a kind of “greenhouse prototype,” during the Inca era. Finally, we will visit the salt mines located northwest of the town of Maras. These mines consist of approximately 2,000 small pools with an average area of about 5 square meters. They have been exploited since Inca times, through the Colonial period, and are still worked by local people. After our visit, we will return to the city of Cusco. (Photo: The Muyus of Moray).
Day 5 – Farewell
After a good breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Cusco Airport, which is just a few minutes from the city center. We need to arrive at least an hour early to confirm your flight. After checking in with the airline and paying the airport tax, we will say goodbye and you will board your flight from Cusco to Lima.
