Program
Day 1 – Arrival and City Tour of Cusco
Upon your arrival at Cusco airport, we will be waiting for you with a sign bearing your name. We will then transfer you to your selected hotel, where you can rest for an hour and enjoy a coca tea. In the afternoon, we will pick you up starting at 1:00 PM to begin the tour of Cusco and its surroundings.
City Tour of Cusco and its Surroundings: This tour begins with pick-up from your hotel. We will then visit the following archaeological and religious sites, guided by a tourism professional from the University of Cusco: The Koricancha Palace and the Convent of Santo Domingo
This religious center, known as the “Temple of the Sun,” showcases the impressive engineering used in its construction.
The Cathedral
A colonial religious monument of extraordinary artistic value.
Sacsayhuamán
Located 3 km from the city of Cusco, this impressive fortress boasts monumental stones and excellent architecture. It is famous for its enormous carved stones, some of which are 9 meters (30 feet) high and weigh more than 350 tons. This is where Inti Raymi, or the “Festival of the Sun,” is celebrated.
Q’enqo
A ceremonial and ritual center, an amphitheater where sacrifices were performed.
Puca-Pucara
An ancient tambo, a lookout post along the Inca roads.
Tambomachay
7 km from the city of Cusco, a ceremonial center for water worship, traditionally known as the Place of the Waters. Tour duration: Approximately 5 hours. Frequency: Daily afternoons.
Day 2 – Machu Picchu Day Tour
We depart daily between 5:45 and 6:00 AM. We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and transfer you to the train station. We may use the “lock-in” system, depending on availability with PeruRail. If so, we will board the train in Ollantaytambo, making our trip less tiring, as the journey from Cusco to the Citadel of Machu Picchu, known as “The Lost City of the Incas,” takes four hours. We will arrive at the Aguas Calientes station where our guide will be waiting. Together, we will take a bus for a 30-minute ride up a winding road to the incredible Machu Picchu. The excursion includes a guided tour of the Citadel, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sundial, the royal quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, and the cemeteries, lasting approximately two hours. Afterward, you will have free time to explore the citadel on your own. Lunch will be at a restaurant in the town of Aguas Calientes or, if you prefer, at the Sanctuary Lodge Hotel (lunch is at your own expense). In the afternoon, return to Cusco by train and transfer to your selected hotel.
Day 3 – Farewell
Depending on your return flight time, we will be at the hotel to take you to the Cusco airport. Two hours before your departure, we will pick you up and accompany you to the airport to check your ticket. You must pay the airport tax and then proceed to the departure gate. We will accompany you there and say goodbye.
