Inca Rail Train Service

To begin the tour to Machu Picchu, you must arrive in the city of Cusco, located 1200 km southeast of Lima, Peru, at least one day before the tour’s start date. Machu Picchu can be visited by train and by hiking the ancient Inca Trail over two or four days. On this tour, we will use the train service.

Description of the Machu Picchu Excursion

We will pick you up from your hotel 2.5 hours before your train departure and transfer you to the train station in Ollantaytambo. There, you will board the Inca Rail train and begin your journey to the town of Aguas Calientes (2000 meters above sea level). Upon arrival at the station in Aguas Calientes, our guide will be waiting for you. Together, we will take a bus for a 30-minute uphill ride to the lost city of the Incas.

The excursion includes a guided tour of the citadel, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, and the cemeteries. Our tour will last approximately two hours.

Afterward, you will have free time to explore the citadel on your own. If you wish, you can have lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge, or you can return to the town of Aguas Calientes where you will find a variety of restaurants.

(Lunch is at your own expense).

You must arrive at the train station at least 30 minutes before your train’s return departure time. The journey will be the same as the outbound trip. Upon your arrival at the station, we will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel.
